Independence Air agonies
We've never had the best of luck when traveling by plane.
It all started when Montserrat erupted the day we left to go on our honeymoon. We were stranded in the Charlotte airport for a good 5 hours before flying to Miami, stayed the night in Miami, and finally reached St. John two days late. Since then, our flying record has included numerous delays and countless not-so-good experiences in airports. Our trip to Raleigh for the wedding wasn't any different.
To make a long story much much shorter, severe weather in Boston delayed our flight to Washington-Dulles ... causing us to miss our connecting flight to Raleigh. We shacked up in a Farfield Inn at the Dulles airport, where we slyly snuck our other traveling companion (the most adorable chihuahua ever) into our hotel room. Gus quickly became not-so-adorable as he proceeded to bark at every slight noise that echoed through the hotel. Needless to say, we got very little sleep that night ...
We finally got to Raleigh Saturday morning and spent a great week hanging out with family and running errands for the wedding. Tiffany and I gave Jenna's dad, Tom, a little dance lesson for the reception and we all heard a plethora of funny memories about Brett and Jenna at the rehearsal dinner. The wedding ceremony was beautiful - even though my grandfather introduced the new couple with "May I now present to you Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dysart." Ehhh ... only his close family members call him "Brett" anyway! The wedding party headed over to the reception at North Ridge in a limo and spent the rest of the night gorging ourselves with yummy desserts and catching up with friends and family (the chocolate fountain made all my wildest dreams come true). Jeffrey dazzled me with his dance skills once again and we sent off the happy couple with an entourage of wedding guests armed with sparklers. We spent the next day hanging out at the Vande Gutche's house, eating barbeque from Smithfield's while Jenna and Brett opened wedding presents.
We were off to Washington-Dulles at 6:45 but, because of weather in Boston AGAIN, didn't leave the Dulles airport until 2:30am (see our photo in the airport). I'll spare all our dedicated readers the grueling details of the Dulles airport stay but, suffice it to say, we didn't arrive to our lovely 340 sq. ft. condo until 4:30am Monday morning. It was a rough trip for all of us ... but was also definitely worth spending a week enjoying family and wedding festivities. Oh, and one last thing ... even though I didn't make it in to work until 12:30 on Monday, I DID get a promotion two days later. Crystal West ... "Flash Developer." Very cool. I was excited to finally make the jump to the all male developer team.
And to all you dancers out there, I've been watching "So you think you can dance" Wednesday nights religiously. I LOVE Mia Michaels. And Jeffrey scored two goals at his soccer league game this past week ... so we're obviously doing pretty well, despite recent travel horrors.
Hope everyone is doing well! Till next post ... adios!
